Lady Blackhawks Cruise to Easy Victory in Season Opener

The 2015-2016 season opened with an easy victory for the Lady Blackhawks.   Adrian hosted the Windsor Greyhounds November 23rd and won the game easily 67-33.
The Blackhawks scored 16 points in the opening period to Windsor's 9.   That was as close as the game would be.  Adrian poured it on in the second quarter outscoring the Greyhounds 25-6.   The Blackhawks led 41-15 at the half and added to it in the third period before calling off the dogs, so to speak, and played subs the fourth quarter.    Adrian was outscored 7-9 in the final frame but the game had long since been decided.
Lauren Shipley led all scorers with 20 points followed by Senior Malory Moles with 14 and Bailey Reed with 10.  Reed led the team in rebounds with 6 boards.  Sheldon Tallman had 5 rebounds and Moles 4.  Lauren Shipley added 5 assists to her team leading points.
Head Coach Shaun Bruto had this to say about the game: "I believe that we played well for our first game.  We have lots of room for improvement but it's always good to get the first victory under our belts."
Adrian's next action will come in the WEMO tournament that starts this Monday in Archie.  The Blackhawks first game is scheduled for 4pm on Tuesday.   To nobody's surprise Adrian will be the top seed in the tournament and will face the 8th seeded Appleton City Bulldogs.
While this should be another easy victory for the Lady Blackhawks  they will still need to stay focused and work on fundamentals in order to improve their play and prepare them to make a run for the tournament title.
