A 2015 Adrian High School alum broke school records in track during his 4-year stint as a Blackhawks trackster, and those records still stand. Austin Corley has taken his success as a Blackhawk and continued at the collegiate level. This past week, Corley's time of 50.59 in the 400m hurdles qualified him for the
2017 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships! Corley is ranked 15th in the nation!
Candace Corley, Austin's mom, shared her pride on Facebook: "Watched my son race today in the 400 hurdles and the 4x4 relay. Beyond words of how proud of him I am. He won his 400 meter hurdles with a 50.59 and he is ranked 15th in the nation. Coming from a small town of Adrian this is quite an accomplishment. As a town we should all be excited on what's next." Yes indeed, we are proud of Austin. He's always been a determined, hard-working student-athlete, both on and off the track.
Adrian Head Track Coach Matt Cochran mentored and coached Corley during his AHS track days. In response to Candace's FB post, Coach
Cochran said: "As a coach, you don't get too many of his kind in your career. You're just thankful if you get one. I couldn't be more proud of him. There will be a lot more accolades coming his way before he is done. He never ceases to amaze me. Can't wait to see what he accomplishes next!" We can't wait to see what's next for Corley, too, Coach!
