The Adrian Blackhawks scored early and scored often enroute to a 47-6 victory over the Rich Hill Tigers Friday night in Rich Hill. With the win Adrian improves its record to 4-0 on the season with a 3-0 WEMO conference record.
Adrian scored three first quarter touchdowns on runs by James Keating, Cameron Tallman and Hunter Steen. Noah Koehler connected on two of three extra points. Steen started the second quarter the same way he finished the first with a 48 yard touchdown run. Rich Hill’s lone score came on the next possession when the 2017 Missouri state champion in the 200 meters, Jacob Querry made it around the end and raced 83 yards for the Tiger touchdown. The two-point conversion failed. Adrian answered that touchdown with two quick scores before the half. James Keating found paydirt on runs of 1 and 4 yards. Koehler, again, was good on 2 of 3 extra point attempts. The Blackhawks got a fourth player involved in the touchdown stats when Ryen Glaser scampered in from 8 yards out with 7:01 to play in the contest.
As good as the offense looked the defense was just as impressive. Dakota Harris led the way with 9 tackles with James Keating and Nicholas Preston each tallying 8 tackles on the night. Preston was credited with two sacks. Josh Collins and Harris tag-teamed on another. Anson Johnson was credited with a hurry. Hunter Steen intercepted a pass and Keaton Cook landed on a fumble.
This is a big win for the Blackhawks. Next week’s game is even bigger as it has huge conference title implications. Adrian needs to maintain this fire and focus as they host the Archie Whirlwinds. The winner of this game will have a clear shot at the conference title.

Coach's Comments:
The kids came out ready to play tonight. We haven't had that killer instinct to put a team away yet, but tonight we had it. Very proud of all the kids. We had two backs that each had over 100 yards. We also had four different people score TDs. I thought the offensive and defensive lines played well. It was a good win. We have a huge game next week with Archie. It could be for the conference title. We need to have a good week of practice and stay focused. A big crowd would be a plus. Come out and support your Blackhawks!
