Blackhawks place at Districts for Speech, Debate and Drama; Scaletty advances to state!

Four Blackhawks placed at Districts for Speech, Debate and Drama!  Congratulations to (left to right): Gavin Reed, Robert Reese, Amina Scaletty and Shellby Nebocat.

Adrian Speech, Debate and Drama students made their way to Districts at State Fair Community College last weekend with sponsor Rachel Coffelt-Ferrell. The competition was tough, but the Blackhawks thrived! Four students in five events placed at districts. Claiming the District Championship title in International Extemporaneous Speaking was Junior Amina Scaletty! Scaletty advances to state!  OUTSTANDING!

Mrs. Coffelt-Ferrell was so proud of her students!  "Having four students in five events go to the finals at the District competition is a big deal for a young program like ours. Great job to Robert, Shellby and Gavin for making it to finals after all the practice time they put into their pieces. All three of these students were involved in the one act play of the readers theater competition as well."  

Amina Scaletty, District Champion in International Extemporaneous Speaking!

District Champion Amina Scaletty has worked hard all year.  Coffelt-Ferrell said, "I'm so proud of Amina and all the hard work she has put into speech competitions this year. Last year she missed going to state by one ranking in International Extemporaneous Speaking (IX), and instead of letting that bother her, she made that her motivation to excel this year. It paid off with a District Championship in IX. Amina also took 4th in Original Oratory, which means she missed going to state by one ranking, and 6th in Duet Acting. She worked on all this while also directing a one act play."
