Adrian Beats Rich HIll

The Adrian Blackhawks travelled to Rich Hill to take on the Tigers last Friday night.  After a sluggish start the Blackhawks put together a pretty strong second half winning the ball game 33-12.
The team didn't show much fire for the better part of the first half and found themselves down 6-0 midway through the first quarter.
Adrian finally found paydirt when Gage Steen scored on a 16 yard run.    Adam Cochran split the uprights on the extra point giving the Blackhawks the lead 7-6 headed in to half time.
After the intermission the Blackhawks put together a very nice drive to start the third quarter that ended in a five yard Steen run.  The sustained drive extended the lead 13-6 and helped absorb a 50 yard Bryant Courter run just seconds later.   Rich Hill's kick failed as did their last chance to make a ball game of it.   It was all Adrian after that.
Steen scored on a 43 yard run and Cochran kick with 9:26 to go in the fourth quarter.    Zach Dabney scored on a 41 yard run two minutes later.  The kick was no good.   Steen scored the final touchdown on the night on a 1 yard run with 2:07 to play in the game.  Cochran added the final point on the night with the extra point.
The win brings Adrian's record to 2-2. They host the Archie Whirlwinds this Friday at the George Bruto Athletic Complex.   Archie landed it's first win in three years and snapped their 23 game losing streak beating the Slater Wildcats 54-0.   Winning can be contagious so Adrian will have to come out strong to avoid giving the Whirlwinds confidence needed to pull off the upset.
