Blackhawks Fall to Bulldogs on Senior Night

The Adrian Blackhawks football team hosted the El Dorado Springs Bulldogs last Friday at the George Bruto Athletic Complex. It was also senior night for the players, cheerleaders and band members. Adrian fell behind early and could never catch up. The Blackhawks lost by the score of 58-26.

The Bulldogs were a very big team with a couple of fast running backs. This made for a very long night for the defensive side of the ball. Missed tackles mixed with a very physical opposing line allowed for the El Dorado Springs running backs to have lofty rushing totals.

Adrian did well when on offense. One bright spot was Wyatt Reynolds racking up 179 yards against the team that ended his season last year with vicious concussion.

Head Coach Matt Cochran said "It was a very tough game tonight. El Dorado is very big up front, and we have trouble with bigger teams. Their offense is very tough to stop, and they run it very well. We did not do a very good job preparing our kids for their offense. We were better in the second half. I thought our offense was alright. Wyatt had 179 yards. I've been waiting for him to have breakout game, and this was kind of it. We have to take this game as a lesson and learn from it. We have Archie in the first round of the playoffs on Friday. I don't care that we have played them before or what the score was. We will get their best game of the year, no doubt. There can be no slip-ups from here on out. As long as we win. we keep on playing. I expect our kids to bounce back from this game, and come out fast and physical against Archie. Come out and support our athletes."

Adrian's record stands at 5-4 on the year. They will host the Archie Whirlwinds this Friday at 7pm in the first round of district action. The winner moves on to face the winner of the Cass Midway/Liberal ballgame.
