The Adrian Blackhawks travelled to Midway hoping to advance in Class 1 football playoffs. Adrian overcome a two touchdown deficit to the Vikings only to give up the winning score late in the fourth quarter.
Closing in on halftime and the Adrian Blackhawks trailed the Midway Vikings 13-7 with 2:40 on the clock.
Steen returned an interception for a touchdown with 5:36 remaining in the third quarter. Cochran was successful on another extra point. Adrian took the lead for the first time in the ballgame 14-13. The Blackhawks held the lead until 4:23 to go in the game. Midway's Maverick Greer scored on a three yard plunge. The two point pass attempt was not good but the 19-14 score would become final a few minutes later.
"The kids fought incredibly hard tonight. The gave it everything they had" said Head Coach Matt Cochran "We gave up a late 4th quarter TD that cost us, just like the last time we played Midway. Offensively we continued to struggle. Defensively I thought we played well enough to win. They ran 67 plays to our 38 - and we were still in the game at the end. I am super proud of the effort we had tonight. I saw a lot of heart in our kids. We fought through a lot of adversity this football season. Several of our seniors became leaders this year. We are really going to miss them next season. Now we have to look to our juniors for that leadership. For us to improve, we have to understand that that begins in the weight room. We have to get bigger, stronger, and faster. If the players can commit to that, next year should be fun. I want to thank all the seniors for their dedication and hard work throughout the last fours years, and wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors."

The Blackhawks were able to answer that few minutes later on a 49 yard Gage Steen to Hunter Harris touchdown pass play. Harris found paydirt and Adam Cochran split the uprights to make it a one score game.
