Adrian Lady Blackhawks Defeat Archie Whirlwinds in Tournament Play

The Lady Blackhawks opened the first round of the 86th Annual Archie Basketball Tournament defeating the 8th seeded Archie Whirlwinds 57-22 Monday, January 25th.    Adrian took care of business like a top seeded team should do scoring 22 points in the opening frame.   With the first point of the second quarter Adrian would have all the points needed to win the game.
The big early lead allowed the starters to get quality playing time and the bench players lengthy stretches of valuable game experience.
"Our girls came out with the maturity and focused on improving their skills that we have been working on all season" said head coach Shaun Bruto.
Adrian's season record now stands at an impressive 14-1.   While easy to take for granted how good the girls team is because they make it all look so easy, it is important to note, as Bruto said,  that they have been working on improving their skills.    Team scoring is spread out amongst the players as is rebounds, steals and assists--all signs of a good balanced team.
Adrian faces the winner of the 4th seed Rich Hill Tigers vs 5th seed Midway Vikings game.    The second round game will be at 7:30 pm Thursday evening.  A win there will put them into the championship game on Saturday.
