Adrian Girls Win Easily in First Round of Districts

The Lady Blackhawks came out on fire in the opening round of Class 2, District 13 tournament bracket.    Adrian, seeded #2, easily dispatched the 7th seed Greenfield Wildcats 71-48 and advance to the semi-final round against the Lockwood Tigers.   Lockwood defeated Liberal 50-42 in their opening round game.

Adrian led 20-5 after one period of play.   The game would never be in doubt so Head Coach Shaun Bruto made the most of the opportunity get the younger girls plenty of action and keep his starters rested.  The Blackhawks put the game on cruise control the rest of the way.   It's a coaches dream to get every girl on the team to see action.  A new name even made the individual stats leader list--Freshman Kylee Morris hit three of four free throws.

"The girls came out focused and ready to play" said Head Coach Shaun Bruto.  "We were able to get some of our young girls in there and get them some experience in a district game."

A big shout out goes to Senior Malory Moles.  Malory's senior year is winding down.   She played like she wasn't going to go quietly.   Moles as at, or near, the top in most of the individual stats scoring 25 points, six rebounds and 10 steals to lead the squad.

The Adrian-Lockwood semifinal matchup takes place Wednesday night at 7:30pm in Rich Hill.  The winner advances to take on (presumably) the Jasper Eagles who face Rich Hill in the game prior to the Blackhawks.
