The Lady Blackhawks participated in The Scoreboard Guy Shootout in Ozark, MO January 21st. She shootout was a showcase of several premier teams from the State of Missouri representing every Class category. Adrian was invited to attend and was paired up with Naylor. Last year Naylor was the runner-up to Class 1 State Champions Mound City.
Adrian was without Senior Anna Walley due to illness. The absence created a matchup down low with Naylor's returning all state player, Callee Pickrell. The Lady Blackhawks were
discombobulated to start the ball game and found themselves in 15-4 hole after one quarter of play.
Adrian made a few adjustments and began chipping away at the lead. The girls outscored Naylor in each of the final three periods but did not take the lead until late in the final period. Momentum was clearly in the Blackhawks favor. The adjustments were too much for Naylor to overcome. One of those adjustments was Camryn Pruitt filling in for Anna Walley allowing Bailey Reed to do what she does best. Pruitt stepped up in a big way in the ballgame her size and presence presented a problem for the Naylor players and helped limit Pickrell's access to the easy buckets.
Senior Lauren Shipley was her dependable self making key shots when needed and was perfect from the free throw line.
Another player with a huge game for the Lady Blackhawks was freshman Jenna Shipley. Jenna led the team in points, rebounds, steals and assists. Jenna also scored five points on nine attempts from the free throw line.
"This was a good come from behind win for the girls" said Head Coach Shaun Bruto. "I thought they fought hard and did a very good job of working together for the win.
