Blackhawk Track Alumni to compete on ESPN2 This Evening

WICHITA, Kan.  --  Wichita State will open competition Thursday at the West Preliminary Championships competition of the 2017 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships May 25-27.



The Shockers qualified 25 track and field student-athletes for the competition.  Per Austin's mom, Candace Corley, Austin will be running his first preliminary race at 5pm central time in heat # 4 on the Longhorn Network which should be on ESPN2.  



Austin Corley has the highest ranking of WSU's preliminary qualifiers with the No. 9 time of 50.59 in the West 400 meter hurdles.

2016: Outdoor- Finished runner-up at the 2016 MVC Championship in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.71 to earn his first All-Valley honor... Placed 30th at the NCAA West Preliminaries in the 400 hurdles in a prelim time of 52.68. Indoor- Ran two indoor events unattached, the Shocker Prelude and Herm Wilson.

High School: State champion in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and the 200 meters at Adrian High School.. Also was runner-up in the 100 meters…  High School bests were 14.37 in the 110 hurdles, 37.23 in the 300 hurdles and 22.12 in the 200 meters… Lettered four years in track and field and three in football… Named All-State defensive back two years and all-district running back and punter…

Personal: Born Oct. 10, 1996 in Clinton, Mo… Son of Butch and Candace…    Has a sister, Samantha… Also recruited by Central Missouri and Pitt State... Majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
