Rich Hill scored first on a 49 yard pass but it was all Adrian after that. The Blackhawks found paydirt six times in the first quarter and tacked on two points when Senior Nick Preston sacked the quarterback in the endzone for a safety. Adrian's staggering 44 point explosion in the first quarter allowed the junior varsity to see some playoff action in the second quarter. After halftime the starters played the 3rd quarter so that they could work on a few things before handing the reigns over to the junior varsity players to finish the game.
The Blackhawks host the Liberal Bulldogs in the next round in Adrian. Liberal is a good 6-3 team with losses to state ranked Lockwood, Pierce City and Sarcoxie. Liberal is coming off a 20-15 victory over the Archie Whirlwinds.

Coach Cochran's Comments:
Kids played well tonight. We have been tweaking a few things offensively these last two weeks, and the kids put it together tonight. 44 points in one quarter is an outstanding effort no matter who you are playing. Defensively we gave up too many points. We will get that fixed this week. Our run defense was good tonight, though. It was good to get everybody some extensive varsity experience tonight. We can't focus on this win too long. We have Liberal coming to town, and they are a good ball team. This is not the Liberal of old. It will be a dogfight, and we have to be ready. Getting a win next would would put us in the district championship. We need a big crowd to get us going.
