Adrian ends the football season 10-2; second place in districts

The beginning of a great season started at the stroke of midnight July 31st ended with heartbreak last Friday at the George Bruto Athletic Complex.   The Adrian Blackhawks fell to the Lockwood Tigers 8-0 in a game that was scoreless into the fourth quarter before the Tigers found paydirt.
Adrian started the season full of hope as a very young team consisting largely of juniors and underclassmen and led by four seniors, Dylan Bell, Josh Collins, Denton Cunningham and Nick Preston.   Along the way they discovered they were a very good team that was only getting better and ended the season a very seasoned, but still young squad that has everything to look forward to next year.
Adrian swept the WEMO Conference in convincing fashion and advanced to the District Championship.  The team finished the season 10-2 giving the school the best varsity record in the better part of a decade. They proved to be a a team to be reckoned with and should enter next season as one of the teams to watch in the fall of 2018.

Coach's Comments:
Tough way to end a season tonight. We knew it would be a close game. We just didn't get the breaks. It was well played by both teams. We played pretty well defensively. Their backs ran hard and broke tackles. You have to give them credit. Offensively, we moved the ball at times but just couldn't finish a drive. You always hate to see a season come to a close. The kids had a good season with 10 wins, being conference champs, and playing for a district title. I'm proud of every one of these kids. They played their hearts out all year - JV and varsity. I couldn't ask for a better group of Seniors. Hate to see Nick, Dylan, Josh, and Denton go, but they laid the groundwork for success in the years to come. We thank them for what they have done for the program, and wish them the best in the future.
