Ashlee Burris receives Randy W. Pike Memorial Scholarship

Adrian High School Senior Ashlee Burris is presented with the
Randy W. Pike Memorial Scholarship by Representative Patricia Pike.

Randy Pike was a lifelong Bates County resident who had an undeniably strong commitment to community service.  Pike was the Bates County Northern Commissioner for 12 years (2000-2012) and represented the 126th District of Bates and Vernon Counties in the Missouri House of Representatives from 2013-2014. At the age of 60, Representative Pike passed away.  After his passing, Pike's wife Patricia was elected to the state legislature.  She continues to advocate for and support public education as well as a wide-variety of other issues.

Patricia and her family established the Randy W. Pike Memorial Scholarship.  A $500 scholarship is awarded to two high school graduating seniors in District 126. Criteria includes a 3.0 grade point average or above with plans to attend a MO technical school, community college or four year college. From the Class of 2018 in Bates and Vernon Counties, Adrian High School Senior Ashlee Burris has been selected for this prestigious scholarship.  Representative Patricia Pike presented Ashlee with a check and certificate at the Adrian Methodist Church on Sunday, April 29, 2018.  Ashlee will be attending the University of Central Missouri in the fall to pursue a Nursing degree.

A personal note from Mike and Michele Burris, Ashlee's parents:  "This scholarship means a great deal to Ashlee as she respects Representative Pike's dedication to social issues that are near and dear to both of them.  We are so proud of Ashlee's accomplishments in school.  Adrian R-III has top-notch educators who have helped, taught and guided her along the way since kindergarten, not only in academics but in life.  We are excited to see what the future holds for Ashlee, we know she will do well in nursing and in doing God's work through mission trips.  We love you, Ashlee."
