Adrian Alum Bailey Reed, Class of 2017, wowed Blackhawks fans with her efforts on the AHS basketball court and in the classroom.  Bailey soared through her first year of college and she has again been recognized for her achievements in basketball and academics.

The MCC - Penn Valley Basketball Banquet was held Tuesday, April 3, 2018.  Bailey was presented with the Most Improved Player Award.  She was also named as the Female Outstanding Academic Athlete with a GPA of 4.0!  Congrats, Bailey!!  Adrian is proud!!!

It's no small feat to excel in athletic and earn a 4.0 GPA.  Heather Price, Bailey's Mom, said:  "I am beyond proud of Bailey for balancing school and basketball and succeeding at both."  Bailey's Dad, Randy Reed, had this to say:  "To say I am proud of Bailey leaving our first college basketball banquet is a huge understatement.  To hear she received Most Improved Player shows her determination but that became a shadow to hearing she was Female Academic Athlete of the Year.  The athletic director couldn't wait to tell that she obtained a 4.0 grade point average and he was really proud of her.  Great dad moments happen, but this one ranks toward the top of my list."  Sentiments from Tina Reed, Bailey's Stepmom:  "Bailey's discipline and dedication to not just do well, but do her BEST amazes me!  It's my wish that she never stops chasing those things in life, whether it's basketball, academics, careers, etc. that require her to work hard and overcome struggles and obstacles.  We are so very proud of you, Bailey, and love you beyond measure!"

Lady Blackhawks Head Basketball Coach Shaun Bruto coached Bailey in Junior High and High School, and is now a spectator watching her success at the collegiate level.  Bruto said, "We are very proud of Bailey and what she has accomplished on and off the basketball floor.  She is a great example of what hard work and dedication will do.  We wish her continued success and hope that she will continue to pursue her dreams."

Bailey credits others for giving her love, support and encouragement.  "I would just like to say that almost every night it took being up until 1am or 2am to maintain my GPA.  That I couldn't do without friends and family supporting me.  Also I am thankful to have such great coaches and players to make my first year of basketball so memorable."
