Blackhawks Wins Big on the Gridiron over Rich Hill

The Adrian Blackhawks travelled to Rich Hill and defeated the Tigers 58-12 Friday night.    The rushing attack was strong with another game with 300+ yards on the ground.  Hunter Steen connected on a couple passes to Cooper Mead to expand the passing game.
Gavin Reed started the scoring with a 28 yard run to paydirt with 8:47 to play in the first quarter. He had two touchdowns on the night.  Cameron Tallman also had two touchdown runs (5yrd and 7yds) as did Hunter Steen (2,2).  James Keating had a 17 yard run as did Ryan Glaser when the JV offense took the field to finish the game.

The defense was stellar yet again.   In five games this year they have had three shutouts.  Rich Hill, despite their winless record was able to put two touchdowns on the board.  One was on the legs of Jacob Querry and the other set up by Querry's fake punt reception that got the Tigers near the goal line.
Adrian's games will get steadily tougher as the season rolls along.  Next week is Archie followed by currently undefeated teams Midway and Jasper.  No doubt each team will give Adrian their biggest challenge to date.   If Adrian continues to improve and not become complacent these next few games will help them with any aspirations they have for the post-season.
This week's game will be in Archie.  The Whirlwinds are 3-2 on the year but have historically given Adrian very hard time and produced one of the most epic finishes in recently history.  Blowout victories are nice but the Blackhawks may have their first chance to see how they handle adversity.

Coach's Comments: This was a good win for us. We tried to do some different things offensively in the first half. We needed to work on a few things. We went back to what we do in the second half. Offensively, I was pretty happy with our effort. We just need to work on our passing game. Defensively, we were again very good except for two plays. Their RB is one of the fastest, if not the fastest kid, in the state at our level. If he gets out in the open, you aren't going to catch him. Fortunately, that only happened once. Overall, we played well. The rest of our regular season schedule isn't easy. Every team we play will be tough. We have to focus on Archie this week. It's a road game for us, and they will give us their best game. They always do. Every time we've played them in recent memory it has been a TD or less game. We have to go in focused and ready. A big crowd would be a huge plus for us.
