Adrian Alum Ashlee Burris travels to Haiti! Donations and prayers welcome!

Ashlee Burris, AHS Class of 2018, is traveling to Haiti in December.

From Mike and Michele...
When Ashlee was barely 16 years old she called us from CIY (Christ in Youth Church Camp) in Oklahoma.  She felt overwhelmingly led to serve God by taking His word to the Dominican Republic.  We were nervous, but knew it's what she must do.  With the love and support of our families, our Adrian Christian Church family, wonderful friends and a generous community, Ashlee traveled to the Dominican a year later with a CIY mission group of teens and two amazing leaders (see pictures below from her trip).  To say it was life-changing is an understatement.  She was exposed to extreme poverty, sex trafficking victims, an elementary school with limited resources, a leprosy colony, a beautiful church with amazing services, and much more.  Ashlee befriended and still keeps in close contact with Shail, a girl from the Dominican who was with her group during their trip.  She keeps in close contact with the kids from all over the country who traveled with her. This summer Ashlee was blessed to see several of them in Colorado.  It meant the world to all of them.

During her AHS years, Ashlee knew she wanted to go into nursing. After her trip to the Dominican and seeing firsthand the extreme need for medical services, Ashlee knew she wanted to use her nursing skills not only in the States but through missionary work.  In her first year at UCM, Ashlee has declared Nursing as her major and International Studies as her minor.

Fast forward to 2018 and Ashlee is ready to spread God's word once again.  This time she will be traveling to Haiti from December 15 - 20 where she will be working with orphans near Port-au-Prince for five days.  Ashlee was connected to this mission trip with special thanks to Adrian's Lori Shannon, who will be going to Haiti with Ashlee.  With the love and support of the Adrian Christian Church and many family and friends, Ashlee has paid for the trip expenses (food, lodging, security, etc.).  International airfare during the holidays is higher.  She has paid for more than half of the airfare but a portion of the cost remains.  The remainder due is $431.39.  If you feel led to make a contribution to Ashlee's mission trip, you can use the link below or contact us.  If you're not inclined to donate, that's okay, too!  We welcome your prayers!
