What's new at the Adrian Community Library?

Press Release

The Adrian Community Library is offering a new service to its patrons and to everyone in the Adrian community and surrounding area.  The library has obtained membership with the Wolfner Talking Book and Braille Library in Jefferson City serving Missouri children and adults with visual and physical disabilities.  Besides offering fiction and nonfiction Braille and audio books, Wolfner Library provides patrons with talking book players, audio books on audio cartridge, large print books, print/Braille games, descriptive DVDs and audio magazines.  Wolfner Library also provides patrons with a range of services including reader advisory, youth services, reference assistance, accessible newspapers and library programming for both children and adults.

To become a patron of Wolfner Library, an individual must have a qualifying visual or physical disability as described in the application.  Institutions that serve individuals with these disabilities are eligble for an institutional membership to assist their clients and demonstrate Wolfner Library Services to prospective patrons.  Wolfner Library is a free library service and materials are mailed from the State library to the patron's homes and the patron returns the materials postage paid back to Wolfner Library.  Currently over 11,000 Missourians actively use Wolfner Library.

The library's collection includes fiction and nonfiction, audio, Braille, and large print books for all ages.  Audio machines are available free upon request.  Applications and materials are available at the Adrian Community Library, 116 East Main Street in Adrian (816-297-2105).  Librarians are available to assist you in filling out your application and answering questions if this new service may help you.
