4th and 5th Grade Science Spooktacular

Amy McVey and Treva Smith masterminded the Science Spooktacular seven years ago!

Science Spooktacular is a day I look forward to as much as Christmas. It is the epitome of what I believe teaching and learning and discovering should be. Treva (Smith, 5th Grade Teacher) and I created this idea seven years ago. We created a day that our entire 4th and 5th grade team could take part in for our kids on Halloween. Every STEM designed lesson is different in each of our rotations. Throughout the day, our 4th and 5th graders rotate through each of us to discover new scientific topics that we tie in to the fun of this day.

I want to give a shout out to everyone in our district that supports this day for us. I LOVE seeing the smiles, the excitement from the younger kiddos seeing us dressing in our quirky wigs. I LOVE having previous students share how much they loved this day when they were in our grade. Most of all, I LOVE sharing our passion for science with everyone around us hoping that it ignites a passion for the world around them.

We couldn't do this without all of our 4th & 5th grade colleagues. They always are ready to jump on board with some of our crazy ideas. What an amazing day to be a part of! And what an amazing Blackhawk family to have!
What a top-notch 4th and 5th Grade Team!
