Blackhawks Football Victorious at Battle of Lone Jack

Adrian had it's first road game in several weeks last Friday when they traveled to Lone Jack to take on the Mules.   The Blackhawks played host for their previous four games.   Warsaw was a scheduled road game but was canceled due to a COVID outbreak in the Warsaw school district.
The Blackhawks made themselves right at home from the onset.   Lone Jack won the toss but went three and out on their first drive.  Adrian's first offensive play was a 41 yard run to paydirt by sophomore Mason Talley.  Case Doody's extra point was good providing Adrian with all the points they would need on the night.
The game got out of hand early as the  Blackhawks scored 25 points before they ran their third offensive play.  After Talley's run the next Mule possession resulted in a bad snap over the punter's head that was kicked out the back of the endzone.  After the kickoff Adrian scored on the first play from scrimmage again on a Lukas Stone 37 yard reception from Colton Bass.   Lone Jack's third possession ended on a fourth down Hutton Pruitt tackle in the endzone for another safety.    Lone Jack had tried an onside kick after the first safety.   This time they kicked off but senior Owen Tallman returned it 60 yards for the score.   The first quarter ended with another Colton Bass passing touchdown this time to Mason Talley.  Adrian led 31-0 after the first quarter.
Korbin Kisner added a touchdown in the second quarter on a  9 yard run.   Case Doody was good on another point after touchdown.  Adrian was able to put the game on autopilot the second half with a turbo-clock running but the scoring did not stop.   Gage Harris scored with a 4 yard run with 7:54 to play in the game.  Grant Stacey capped the scoring with a 19 yard interception return for a  touchdown followed by a  Gage Harris 2pt conversion run.
The Blackhawks headed home on the good side of a 53-0 score to prep for Midway week.  The Vikings and Blackhawks are the lone remnants of the WEMO 11-man football conference.  The long time rivals face off Friday at Cass Midway.   The Vikings are struggling this year but you can bet they will give Adrian their best game.   Anybody who knows the history these two teams share know you can toss records aside and expect a dog fight.

Coach's Comments:
We played well, and we got everybody into the game tonight. We came out and played well right out of the gate. Offensively, we executed well. We rushed for a little under 300 yards. The line played well, and the running backs ran hard. Defensively, any time you get a shutout, you're happy. We held Lone Jack to -51 yards rushing, and that isn't an easy thing to do. Overall, it was a good overall performance for us tonight. We'll take a win whenever we can get it. Next week we go to Midway, and that's going to be a dogfight. The records don't matter when we play each other. We will get their best game. We have to have a great week of practice this week. Midway will be physical, and we have to be prepared for that.
