Head Coach Matt Cochran and assistants Matt Davis, Caleb Noland, & Josh VanSlyke ushered in the 2015 season for the Adrian Blackhawks football squad August 3rd with a midnight practice. Matt is in his 23rd year of coaching football with 19 of those years at Adrian. This will be his second year as head coach. His inaugural season ended with a 3-3 conference record and 7-4 record over-all.
Players lost to graduation in 2014 include: Austin Corley RB/S, Logan Tallman, RB/OLB, Matthew Wright, OL/DL, Isaac Romi OL/DL, Dylan Enlow OL/DL, James Wood OL/DL, Chase Osborn WR/DB, and Jeremy Dryden WR/DE.
The team will still have lots of speed but not as much size. "We have fought that battle for the last couple of years" said Coach Cochran. "We will be quick, but not very big. We should be quick in the backfield and quick on the line. We have a lot of experience coming back. We have a good core of kids that have played for several years together" said Cochran. "They are excited about this year and have worked hard all summer in the weight room."
Cochran feels he has an intelligent group of kids so it shouldn't be too difficult to adapt to teams on the fly. "I have some very good assistant coaches that put in a lot of time to make sure we are successful."
