Adrian Falls Short of Homecoming Victory

Gage Steen hands off to Wyatt Reynolds.  Zach Shannon is lead blocker.
The Adrian Blackhawks hosted the Osceola Indians for Homecoming.  Both teams played stellar on the defensive side of the ball.    Adrian gave up touchdown in the fourth quarter that proved to be the difference in the game.
There isn't much to say about a game that ends 7-0 and it's not the good kind of shutout.    Both teams were evenly matched.   Osceola just happened to find a way to strike paydirt late in the fourth quarter.  The Blackhawks gave one last valiant effort to tie but to no avail.
With defense being the theme for the night here are some stats that don't normally get mentioned Hunter Harris had 12 tackles on the night and Adam Cochran had ten. Adrian registered four sacks on the night.  Connor Pruitt had two, Parker Deal had one while Zach Shannon and Ryan Baker teamed up on a sack of their own.

"This was very much a  defensive game," said Head Coach Matt Cochran.  "It was a hard fought game by both teams tonight.  We played well defensively except for one play, but that will cost you in a game like this.   We had a couple of chances to score but didn't capitalize.   We have to do a better job at moving the ball--particularly throwing the the football.   If we don't, we will see ten in a box every week.   That is something we will continue to work on in practice.   We have Sherwood this week.  I don't care what their record is, we will get their best game of the year.   We are really going to have to go over there and play well.   I have a lot of faith in these kids.   They know what they need to do and they will do it."

The Sherwood Marksmen are 1-6 on the year and are coming off a 14-0 defeat at the hands of the Drexel Bobcats.    Game time is 7pm at Sherwood High School.
Devin Darby rushes the ball.
