Varsity Boys Take Opening Game of WEMO Tournament 70-49 Over Archie

The boys varsity basketball team played a pretty good game Tuesday in the opening round of the WEMO tournament held in Archie.  Adrian defeated the Archie Whirlwinds 70-49 to set the stage for a matchup with the #2 seed Osceola Indians Thursday at 6:00pm.  The winner will play for the championship Saturday night.
The Blackhawks outscored the Whirlwinds in each of the first three quarters.  The subs held serve the fourth quarter scoring as many points (14) as they gave up.
Fans observing from the stands saw great teamwork from the Blackhawks. They worked the ball around and found open players instead of forcing shots.  Hunter Steen dished off assists to Logan Harris for easy buckets.
A new scoring threat emerged in Logan Harris.   Harris led the Adrian scoring attack with 24 points.   The team already had offensive threats from Hunter Harris, Gage Steen and a Hunter Steen.  Teams will have a hard time double teaming any one player when there are so many others on the team that can take over a ballgame.  And that is without mentioning the fifth starter, Trenton Tallman.  Tallman is in his senior season and contributes experience and a three point threat to stretch out the defenses.
"The guys really passed the ball well and went strong to the rim" said Head Coach Tyson Basore.
