Adrian Girls Basketball is Midway Tournament Champions

The Lady Blackhawks were on a mission during this week.   Today their mission was accomplished with a 60-31 victory over the Crest Ridge Cougars in the championship game of the 30th Annual Midway Basketball Tournament.

Adrian trailed early in the second quarter but tough defense and timely baskets gave the Blackhawks the lead midway through the quarter.   The girls never looked back and crushed the Cougar just as they had done to KC Lutheran and Christ Prep in the first two rounds.

Adrian dominated every team they faced this tournament.   That's impressive enough.  What's even more impressive is today's victory over an opponent that came into the game with a 20-2 record.  Adrian shut down their top scorer on the perimeter and had them to intimidated to drive to the basket.   Doing what they did today to a very good opponent is a great indicator of just how well they played.

Kudos to the Lady Blackhawks.   This tournament victory should have them confident as they head to Drexel next Tuesday in a WEMO conference matchup.   Drexel always rises to the challenge when playing Adrian.   In their last matchup the Lady Bobcats beat Adrian to win the Archie Tournament.   Adrian looks to avenge that loss as they wind down WEMO conference action.
