Track Sectionals - Adrian tracksters achieve personal bests, qualify for state

Adrian track was represented at Mt. Vernon High School for the Sectionals Meet on May 14, 2016. Qualifiers were: Lauren Shipley, Bailey Reed, Sonya Walsh, Kerigan Wimsatt, Maly Sears, Bailey Novovesky, Ryan Baker, Devin Darby, Connor Pruitt, Gavin Reed, Brohde Bennett and Seth Baker. Four of them will be advancing to the State Meet in Jefferson City: Lauren Shipley, Bailey Reed, Devin Darby and Ryan Baker.

The girls fared well at sectionals.  Head Coach Matt Cochran said: “Super day for the girls. There were several PB’s today - Lauren in the 200 M and 100 M hurdles, and Bailey Reed in the triple jump and 100 M. Both girls will be participating in four events at state this weekend. I look for them to do very well at state. We are really looking forward to it.”

300 M Hurdles: Lauren Shipley 47.63 1st place 
High Jump: Lauren Shipley 5’ 1st place
Pole Vault: Bailey Reed 9’ 1st place
200 Meters: Lauren Shipley 26.86 2nd place 
100 M Hurdles: Lauren Shipley 16.12 2nd place 
Triple Jump: Bailey Reed 34’ 3.5” 2nd place
100 Meters: Bailey Reed 13.23 3rd place
Long Jump: Bailey Reed 16’ 4.75” 3rd place 
4x800: 11:44.81 7th Place - Sonya Walsh, Kerigan Wimsatt, Maly Sears, Bailey Novovesky

The boys gave it all they had, and two will advance to state.  Coach Cochran said:  “Wasn’t a great day for us today. It was disappointing not getting the 4x200 relay or any high jumpers in. However, Devin Darby winning the pole vault was great. We have state this weekend and Devin Darby will be participating in the pole vault and Ryan Baker will be throwing the javelin. We are really looking forward to that.”
