Varsity Boys Basketball Plays Two Before Christmas Break

The Adrian Blackhawks are enjoying their Christmas break preparing for their season that is about to heat up.   Before their time off they squeezed in a couple games with one of them being against a Class 4 team.  They defeated the Lone Jack Mules in a close game 60-55 before putting up a good fight while falling short against the Pleasant Hill 64-54.
In the Lone Jack game Adrian took a 12 point lead into halftime and but were outscored in each of the final two period.  They gave up half their lead in the third period but were able to slow down the Mules attack and secure a five point margin of victory.    Logan Harris lead all scorers with 27 points while Nick Preston lead the team in rebounds with 7.
"It was a hard game to play in with all the fouls" said head coach Tyson Basore.  "The boys made enough plays to win".
Much like the girls team the boys have scheduled a game with a tough opponent to help prepare them for post season tournament play.   Adrian played up a couple of levels when they hosted the Pleasant Hill Roosters on December 20th.  Adrian put up a tough fight but fell by ten points to the much larger school.
Pleasant Hill seemed determined contain Logan Harris but that allowed Harris to lead the team with six assists.  Hunter Steen and Dylan Novovesky notched 14 and 13 points to lead the team on offense.  Connor Pruitt, Nick Preston and Harris each had 4 rebounds.   One good thing that came out of this contest was the Blackhawks being able to score from outside.   Hunter Steen and Dylan Novovesky each were credit with two 3-pointers.  Being able to connect from long range will help the team down the stretch and means they are getting better looks at the basket.
"The Boys competed hard against a very good Pleasant Hill team.  We just couldn't get in their head" said head coach Tyson Basore.

Adrian will be back in action Friday January 6th when they host Liberal. Game time is set for 8:30pm following the girls varsity game.
