QUARTERFINALS
The excitement about Lady Blackhawks basketball grew in the days following the sectionals win in Clinton.  As the team prepared for the quarterfinals against Mid-Buchanan at Liberty High School, so did the school and the community.  On the big day, a caravan of Blackhawks headed north and filled the stands.  School history was made once again as the girls played their hearts out to beat Mid-Buchanan 71-59.  The Lady Blackhawks were headed to the Final Four, a first for any basketball team, boys or girls, in the history of Adrian High School basketball.  The Blackhawks cheerleaders and student section (The Tribe) had so much spirit and enthusiasm that non-Adrian people commented on the strong display of Blackhawk Pride.

Bailey Reed and Lauren Shipley led the team in total points scored, with 22 each.  Jenna Shipley put up 16 and Anna Walley had 6.  Four players had one three pointer each:  Kerigan Wimsatt, Lauren Shipley, J. Shipley and Bailey Reed.  The Lady Blackhawks made 25/33 free throws.  Individual FT stats:  L. Shipley, 9/11; Reed, 7/10; J. Shipley, 7/10; R. Pittman, 2/2.

It wasn't an easy win, but the girls rose to the challenge as they have all season and came out on top. "We played a very strong Mid-Buchanan team who made us focus on the little things.  We managed to come out with a good victory," said Head Coach Shaun Bruto.  If you think the town went crazy over a sectionals win, the level of excitement skyrocketed after this victory!  The road to the Final Four began as soon as time ran out against Mid-Buchanan!
