Former Drexel Bobcat Head Football Coach Killed in Accident North of Platte City

Nathan A. Danneman, who coached the Drexel Bobcats football team in 2011 and 2012, was killed in a four-vehicle accident on Interstate 29 Wednesday evening.   Danneman's vehicle was heading southbound when a northbound semi crossed the median and hit his vehicle and two others.   Danneman was pronounced dead on the scene by Platte County Deputy I. Johns at 6:54pm.  His 3 year old daughter was in the car with him.  She was transferred to Children's Mercy Hospital with minor injuries.

Danneman was currently the head football coach and wresting coach for the West Platte school district.  “Last night, the West Platte family lost a dear member. Nathan Danneman will always be known as a positive and hard-working role model for our kids and staff. He will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathies go out to Coach Danneman’s family during this time of grief,” the district announced on Facebook and Twitter Thursday morning.

Danneman joined the Drexel Bobcat's coaching staff for the 2011 and 2012 seasons.   He had a 17-4 record with two WEMO Conference championships under his belt.
