The Adrian Blackhawks travelled to Windsor to take on the Windsor Greyhounds in varsity football action. The teams went into the game with a combined record of 11-1. Adrian hoped to stay undefeated and the Greyhounds hoped to build on a 5-1 record with their only loss coming in a close game to state ranked Lincoln.
Adrian scored with :01 second remaining in the first quarter on a Cooper Mead 2 yard plunge to paydirt. Noah Koehler connected on the extra point. That proved to be the game winner but not before both teams made it interesting down the stretch. The Blackhawks managed to fight off several drives by the Greyhounds before padding their lead with a late touchdown run by James Keating and extra point by Koehler.

The lead was 8 points with 1:38 to play but the game was far from decided. Windsor put on a passing display that marched them down the field withing striking distance to the goal line. Several well defended passes secured the win for Adrian as they were able to take the victory formation to end the game.
Coach's comments: Great win tonight. Offense was good at times, but the defense played well most of the night. WIndsor can be an explosive team, but our defense held them in check. Our line did a really good job most of the night. We controlled the line of scrimmage. That was the difference in the game. We had no huge runs or passes. We just methodically drove the ball down the field. We are sitting first in our district now, which is right where we want to be. We are going to Sherwood next week. The are a Class 2 team that we need to beat. I don't care what their record is, we will get their best game. We cannot overlook anyone at this point in the season. We just need to keep improving.
