Chancy Glynn named PLTW Outstanding Counselor!

When you have the absolute BEST counselor on the planet, awards are very much deserved.  Adrian R-III Counselor Mrs. Chancy Glynn is the BEST!  Glynn has been named as the Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Outstanding Counselor!

Student Services Coordinator Erin Huckaby nominated Glynn for this prestigious award.  Read below what she wrote, it leaves no doubt whatsoever who the winner should be.
"Chancy Glynn is the very definition of a counselor and more. She always goes above and beyond for not only our current students, parents and staff, but even for those that have previously graduated from our district. The reason these students come back and ask for her advice and help is because she is always willing to lend an ear and a helping hand. That was no different when our building principal stepped into her office one day and said, “We need PLTW in our school district. What do we need to do to make that happen?” In true Mrs. Glynn fashion, she started researching and making phone calls and helped to get the first track of the PLTW program initiated in our high school in 2011-2012. We started with the engineering track beginning with the IED and POE courses. Then in 2012-2013 we added CEA, and in ‘13-’14 we added EDD. We continue to add programs each year from the Gateway Program in ‘14-’15, to the Biomedical courses in ‘15-’16, Launch and the Computer Science track in ‘16-’17 and now in ‘17-’18 we have added HBS. We wouldn’t have a need to continue adding these courses each year if it wasn’t for Mrs. Glynn promoting each of these tracks to our students and making our master schedule work for those that are interested in pursuing careers that the PLTW tracks help prepare them for. She is the one behind the scenes that makes it happen and makes it all work on a regular basis. I believe Chancy Glynn is very deserving of the honor of receiving this award. She is always very humble and never asks for any recognition or even a pat on the back and passes the glory, for lack of a better way of putting it, to other people. She has been the backbone of PLTW in the Adrian R-III School District and she is the reason implementing each program has been so successful. So please consider her for this great honor."

R-III administrators have plenty to say about Glynn's commitment to Adrian kids and the district.  Superintendent Don Lile shares, "Chancy works one on one with our students to educate them about all the programs we offer at Adrian.  Chancy does a wonderful job for the district and is a great asset to our staff."

MS/HS Principal Abe Lewis shared these sentiments:  "Mrs. Glynn is a tremendous asset to our staff and students. She spends countless hours working with our students on solving their needs from scheduling to relationships. For PLTW, she has been instrumental in finding a way to make the classes and curriculum that PLTW has to offer work within the resources we have available at Adrian. She does so much behind the scenes for our school to make this place a great place for our students. We are all extremely excited that Mrs. Glynn has received this recognition. It is great honor for her and our school."

Jeanette Baker, MS/HS Assistant Principal, wrote this for the award nomination: "Mrs. Glynn is the very essence of our school system because of her demeanor with our students and staff. She is always ready to assist students with their needs in counseling or with career planning. She takes the time to listen and build relationships with each and every student that she encounters. Mrs. Glynn has invested time in the PLTW mission by assisting students in challenging themselves through rigorous class schedules that will prepare them for the global economy. I highly recommend Mrs. Glynn for this award nomination. I have the great privilege to be a part of how she communicates and supports our students as they move ahead in challenging career and life decisions. She exemplifies what PLTW wants for every student in this changing and diverse world."

An Awards and Recognition Banquet will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
