Adrian Wins Opening Round Game of WEMO Tournament; Face off with Rich HIll Thursday Night

/The 2017 WEMO Conference Basketball Tournament tipped off in Adrian this week.   The boys team came in seeded #2 and faced #7 seed Appleton City Monday in their opening round.   The first half was an even matchup as the teams were tied at the end of the first quarter and again at halftime.    The Blackhawks pulled away in the third quarter outscoring the Bulldogs 17-8 and padded their lead with a +5 point differential in the fourth for a 61-47 victory.
Leading scorers for Adrian were juniors Dakota Harris with 18 pts and Collin Lybarger right behind him with 17.   Senior Nick Preston pulled down 9 rebounds to lead the way while junior Cameron Tallman dished out six assists.   The Blackhawks were  19/35 from the field and 5/9 from the charity stripe.  The victory moved the team to 2-0 on the season.  Their first win came against Windsor in the season opener.
Rich Hill, with Adrian Alumni and basketball great Eric Moles at head coach, pulled off the first upset of the tournament knocking out the 3rd seed Osceola  Indians 64-55.   The victory sets up the first matchup between teacher and pupil as Tyson Basore was Mole's head coach just six seasons ago.    Game time is set for 9pm Thursday in the high school gym.
