From Teammates to Opponents Moles vs Reed

Adrian has produced its fair share of athletes who have taken their talents to the next level.  In recent history the school has had athletes playing college football, basketball, volleyball and track.    Thursday night two former Adrian greats may have taken part in be what might a "first".  High school teammates became opponents for a a night when the Cottey Comets basketball team travelled to Kansas City to take on the Penn Valley Scouts.
Malory Moles, a 2016 Adrian alumni is in her second season with the Comets.   She squared up against 2017 alumni Bailey Reed with their former coach, Shaun Bruto watching from the stands.  Penn Valley defeated Cottey College 85-53.
"It was good to get to see them play again," said Bruto.  "They represented themselves and our community well."
Reed had some glowing things to say about her friend/opponent "It was really odd, but cool playing against Malory.  It reminded me how glad I am that she was on my team all those years because she had a phenomenal game.  She shot the lights out just like high school."
Malory scored 23 of her team's 53 points hitting on several three point shots.   Bailey scored 8 points for Penn Valley.
"It was really good to be on the court with Bailey, again" said Moles. "Even if we were in different jerseys."
The girls will face off one more time this season in Nevada February 8th at 6pm. "I enjoyed seeing a familiar face on the court" added Reed. "I can't wait to play them again at the end of the season.  I would also like to thank everyone who came out to watch us.   Hope to see them again when we play for the second time!"
