Adrian Blackhawks and Archie Whirlwinds With Another Classic Game

Last Friday's game between the Adrian Blackhawks and Archie Whirlwinds was every bit as exciting as expected and way too close for comfort for the Blackhawk faithful.  Adrian pulled out the win despite the offense being shutout in the ballgame.
Offensively Adrian missed opportunities and shot themselves in the foot with penalties.  They played well, but couldn't put together a sustained drive.  Defense was the savior for the Blackhawks.  The staunch defense kept Adrian in the game, gave them the lead, and in the end, preserved the victory.
The scoring summary goes like this:
Adrian (4:50 2nd Q) - Dakota Harris 60 yd interception return (Noah Koehler kick)
That's it.
Adrian's lone visit to paydirt came when Dakota Harris stepped in front of a Whirlwind pass and raced down the sideline before reading some key blocks and darting to the opposite corner of the endzone.  It was a superb return that made the difference in the ballgame.
Let's be clear...Archie came to play.  They came up strong on defense themselves and drew up every trick play in the book on offense hoping to create a mismatch and a score.   They did crack the plane of the endzone but the score was nullified on a penalty.   That's the break the Blackhawks needed to  get the shutout.
Adrian should come to expect that every week.  The games do not get any easier for them.  This week is Midway week.  Midway is undefeated and unranked with the conference title on the line...all the more reason for them to have a chip on their shoulder.

Adrian must cut down on the penalties, take advantage of what few mistakes Midway might make and put up and execute better on offense this Friday.  If they do the WEMO Conference title will reside with the Blackhawks another year.

Comments:
Tough, hard fought game tonight. It was a classic Adrian/Archie game. We knew it would be a slobberknocker. Just really good defense by both teams. We made way too many mistakes with fumbles and penalties. We have to correct that this week. We needed a game like that. We needed to face adversity. It was a good win. Yes, we need to work on a lot of things, but to have so many things go wrong and still pull out the win shows character. We can't panic in those kind of situations. We just need to keep playing. It doesn't get any easier this week. What a huge game - Adrian/Midway. It doesn't get much better than that. What an opportunity for us to get better. It's a home game so we need a huge crowd that makes a lot of noise. That will make a difference. We will get their best game. We just need to be ready for it.
Dakota Harris gets a lead block from Corbin Kisner before cutting back across the field for the only score of the night
